Exploring Pacific identities in rehabilitation

To date, there is limited knowledge regarding how New Zealand-born Pacific health professionals working within rehabilitation navigate the complexity of their own and their clients’ Pacific identities and how this frames and informs their clinical practice.

Pacific Identities visualised

We are using talanoa to explore how New Zealand-born Pacific health professionals in rehabilitation navigate the complexities of their own and their clients’ Pacific identities and to understand how their identities frame and inform their clinical practice, contributing to culturally responsive and effective rehabilitation services.

This will help inform how such an identity might be responded to in rehabilitation practice in New Zealand and inform future research that may navigate the intersection between Pacific and Māori health.
